The major duties of the Physical Scientist position include, but are not limited to the following:
-Develop and maintain long and near-term research plans, including personnel, budget, measurement equipment, and scheduling of resources; -Provide advice and counsel to other federal and state agencies for advancing air quality protection; -Preparing briefing statement for upper-level managers; -Serve as a technical expert in the area of pollutant monitoring of ambient air, atmospheric deposition, and visibility. All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-09/30/2020-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. For current Federal employees, if hours worked per week are not included on your resume, you must submit a non-award SF-50 as part of your application to be used to validate your work schedule and determine the amount of specialized experience that you will be granted. An award SF-50 will not be acceptable documentation for which to consider your amount of qualifying experience. For all other applicants who are not current federal employees, your resume must state either full-time (or 40 hours a week) or part-time with the number of hours worked per week to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience. To qualify for this position at the GS-14 grade level, you must possess one of the following basic qualifications by close of the announcement:
A. Degree:
physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics. -OR- B. Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education. - AND - Minimum
Qualifications:
To qualify for this position at the GS-14 grade level, you must possess all of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
Experience:
At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience to include all of the following:
(1)Performing detailed and sophisticated analyses of obscure and novel air resource problems using the principles of atmospheric physics and chemistry, meteorology, mathematics, statistics and computer science; (2) Developing and maintaining long and short-term research plans, including personnel, budget, measurement equipment, and scheduling of resources; (3) Providing scientific leadership, advising senior atmospheric scientists on the most unusual, complex and critical problems identified during review of analysis procedures; (4) Preparing consolidated reports and peer reviewed journal articles of the approaches used and results obtained; and (5) Providing technical direction to research teams and sets program goals to be accomplished by the team, allocates available resources, defines objectives, priorities, and deadlines, and reviews the end products of the team's efforts. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
