SWCA Environmental Consultants is seeking an experienced, dynamic, and self-motivated Natural Resources Associate Project Manager with strong interpersonal skills and experience in natural resources management.
This individual will successfully drive our projects throughout all phases from early planning to final deliverables.
You should reside in the greater Denver, Boulder, or Fort Collins, CO area (or be willing to travel to our Colorado offices at regular intervals) and will support our operations throughout the Rocky Mountain Front Range and beyond.
This Natural Resources Associate Project Manager should have technical expertise in a range of activities such as watershed health planning, fire and forestry planning, water quality analyses, post-fire restoration, and environmental planning.
Skills include the ability to manage small to medium-sized projects, and track milestones within schedule and budget expectations.
You may also support or be responsible for QA/QC oversight of field data and report-writing.
Our Natural Resources program works on diverse natural resources related projects across many business lines, including fire and forestry and water resources.
This is a regular (with benefits), full-time, position.
Pay rate will be based on individual qualifications and experience.

What you will accomplishAssist or serve as associate project manager or technical lead on a variety of resource management planning projects.
Manage small and medium-sized natural resources tasks and projects, including maintaining budgets, schedules, safety, and quality of service.
Supervise, mentor, and provide project technical support to staff-level environmental scientists and field staff.
Work closely with a project team to develop innovative approaches to resource assessments and write proposals that meet client needs and can withstand agency and public scrutiny.
Take initiative and resolve issues to assure client needs are met effectively.
Work with Corporate accounting department to review invoices, expenditures, and project audits for projects/tasks.
Work closely with SWCA's resource scientists and environmental planners and managers, and directors throughout the company to promote SWCA's business interests in adherence to its mission, vision, and values.
Implement and administer SWCA's safety procedures and standards of scientific and professional ethics.
Lead and manage wildfire and/or watershed tasks, including fieldwork, data management, and reporting.
Coordinate with GIS and technical editing teams.
If appropriate for your skillset and role, conduct scientific assessment and statistical analyses.
Experience and qualifications for successRequired Minimum of a bachelor's degree in water resources, forestry, biology, environmental science, ecology, natural resource management, or another related field; A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience performing environmental, ecological, or natural resources studies, surveys, or projects in the private or public sector; At least two (2) years working as an environmental consultant and supporting project management; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Experience interacting with the public on controversial topics such as forest and/or watershed health; Demonstrated experience managing budgets and schedules in natural resources consulting; Experience mentoring and/or supervising entry-level staff; Proactive, collaborative project management focused on project risk mitigation; and Demonstrated experience with federal agencies such as the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), US Forest Service (USFS), and/or US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), Colorado Department of Health and Environment (CDPHE), and other state or local agencies.
Preferred Experience working with forestry and/or watershed clients.
Experience and ability to manage multiple complex projects and programs, in diverse settings and with changing requirements.
Experience leading and performing wildfire and/or watershed planning tasks including reporting, field work, writing, public outreach, and data management.
Demonstrated experience working in a fast paced work environment, and a desire to work in a highly collaborative team atmosphere.
Experience and/or a strong interest supporting business development efforts.
